Documents signed for Anthony Gordon to complete Everton transfer to Newcastle United – Fabrizio Romano
Anthony Gordon can officially be considered a Newcastle United player after all the documents were signed to confirm his transfer from Everton, according to Fabrizio Romano.
Sky Sports reporter Keith Downie confirmed (Twitter, 28 January) that Gordon had completed his medical ahead of completing his move to St James’ Park.
Romano has since claimed (via Twitter, 29 January) that all the documents are now signed and that an official statement is imminent.
“Documents are signed, also medical tests completed for Anthony Gordon who can be finally considered as Newcastle player,” wrote the Guardian journalist.
“Official statement will follow as all contracts have been exchanged between clubs and player side.”
Spend it wisely
This is a very unusual situation for Everton to be in. They currently have three days to kickstart their January business. The reported £40million plus £5million in add-ons for Gordon will give the club a little bit more leverage in the remaining days of the window.
An attacker is an absolute must, particularly after the departure of Gordon. The 21-year-old has been far from impressive in the 2022/23 campaign, but he’s still a talented player and could well have made an impact had he remained on Merseyside.

Incoming manager Sean Dyche certainly has one hell of a job on his hands in the coming days and months. His first priority is to look for reinforcements and then somehow find a tune out of this underperforming group of players.
He’s the ideal man to try and save Everton from relegation, but he will still need some sort of financial backing before the window slams shut.
