PSV Eindhoven to push for permanent Jarrad Branthwaite transfer in summer after Everton reject January bid

PSV Eindhoven will try to sign Jarrad Branthwaite permanently again in the summer after Everton rejected a bid this month, according to journalist Rik Elfrink.

The central defender has spent the first half of the season on loan in the Eredivisie with PSV, making 12 appearances so far and scoring one goal.

Those appearances have been enough to convince them to try and make the deal permanent to keep him beyond the summer, but with Everton rejecting their advances so far ED journalist Elfrink says they will try again in the summer barring any late twists in the next days.

“PSV did not come to an agreement with Everton in the attempts to take over Jarrad Branthwaite definitively,” he wrote on his personal Twitter account (30 January).

“This will remain on the agenda for the next transfer window, unless there is a plot twist these days.”

Interesting

Considering all the problems that Everton have had financially in recent years, it’s nice to know that the club does have saleable assets should the worst happen this season.

Anthony Gordon is now gone, and with Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s injury record there is no clear idea on if any interested parties remain or how much they’d be willing to pay should he leave.

Everton

Branthwaite is unlikely to command a huge fee regardless of whether he leaves or not, but if the club are to be relegated then he would be a fantastic option to take over with the club preparing for the future.

Should we choose to cash in though, we will be able to demand extra cash because we know that PSV have got the money with European football and having made big-money sales in recent times with Cody Gakpo and Noni Madueke joining Liverpool and Chelsea.

The summer will be an interesting window for the club, but it will largely be dependant on what the club are able to do in the second half of the season so they’ve made the right choice to stand firm and not make a decision immediately.
