Everton have £30.8m bid for Udinese forward Beto rejected – Di Marzio

Everton have had a £30.8million deadline-day bid for Udinese forward Beto rejected with the Serie A club wanting to keep him for the remainder of the season, according to Gianluca Di Marzio, speaking live on Sky Sports.

According to Italian journalist Marco Conterio [Twitter, 31 January] the Toffees had made a £22million bid for the 25-year-old Portuguese striker, with which the club were evaluating.

The Blues are desperate to add to their attacking weaponry on deadline day in order to bolster Sean Dyche’s squad after his appointment on Monday [30 January].

And according to the latest information, the Toffees have in fact made a £30.8million bid for the 25-year-old striker.

Reliable journalist Di Marzio, speaking live on Sky Sports News [31 January, 5:15pm], said: “Everton tried to get Beto, the Portugal striker of Udinese but they refused the offer, rejected the offer of 35million euros because Udinese wants to keep Beto till the end of the season.”

Desperation

The latest update regarding the Toffees move for Beto comes as a huge blow to the club board, who are scrambling in desperation to get attacking deals over the line at Goodison Park on deadline day.

It is evidently clear the club needs reinforcements this window, and their late business once again highlights the board’s incompetence and lack of strategic planning in their recruitment.

New boss Dyche should be considered a miracle if he is able to get this Everton squad firing again without the attacking additions he desperately needs.

With Anthony Gordon leaving to join Newcastle, the Toffees have been left in a worse position than when they entered the window and with just a few hours left, it’s unlikely they’ll be able to get deals over the line to aid the former Burnley manager.

It is indeed a tough and incredibly testing time for the Everton faithful. The immediate future is looking bleak with the club languishing in the Premier League relegation zone.
