Everton renew talks to sign Lyon striker Moussa Dembele, £3m deadline-day move on the cards
Everton have resurrected their interest in Moussa Dembele after missing out on a number of attacking targets, according to The Mirror.
The Toffees had a bid of £20 million rejected for Kamaldeen Sulemana and it’s understood the 20-year-old Renne attacker is now on his way to Southampton.
Scottish Daily Mail (20 January, page 73) suggested Dembele will be available for £3million, with his contract set to expire in the summer.

The Mirror now report (31 January) that Sean Dyche is desperate to add a goalscorer to his ranks and that late interest in the former Celtic striker has emerged. The 26-year-old enjoyed two “sensational” years at Park Head, scoring 51 goals.

It’s now abundantly clear that a new striker has to arrive before Tuesday’s deadline. Dembele is proven and could be snapped up for a cut-price due to his contract situation. If he still had one or two years left on his deal, there’s a chance he would command a fee upwards of £20million.
£3million would be an absolute bargain price if Everton can get a deal over the line. However, the issue for the Merseyside club has been convincing players to join in recent days. Conor Gallagher and Sulemana are just two examples of players who have opted to turn down a move to Goodison Park.

Dyche has one hell of a job on his hands, and it will get a lot harder if one or two attacking additions don’t come through the door in the coming hours. Dembele could well be open to a move back to the UK and the board must do everything they can to convince him to make the move back to the Premier League.
