Everton transfer deadline day news as four players could leave Goodison Park today
The bid by Everton for Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher is “doomed”, while four players could be set to leave Goodison Park on deadline day, according to the Daily Mail.
The Toffees have plenty of work to do on deadline day as they look to shape Sean Dyche’s squad for the second half of the season, and started by launching a £40million bid for Gallagher on Monday afternoon. [Fabrizio Romano, 30 January]
While incomings are almost certain, Dyche’s side reportedly could also be set to lose up to four first-team players by Tuesday’s 11pm cutoff – which could, in turn, free up funds for the English manager to spend.

“A bid for Conor Gallagher is doomed,” the Daily Mail reported (Tuesday 31 January, page 69).
“They want a striker, winger and midfielder, while another defender could be brought if some go. Kamaldeen Sulemana, Thorgan Hazard (Dortmund) and Rodrigo Becau (Udinese) have been discussed, while Andre Ayew could join on a free.
“Who could go: Mason Holgate, Michael Keane, Jarrad Branthwaite, Abdoulaye Doucoure.”

Manic deadline day
Why do Everton always leave it so late?
With every club in the relegation fight having brought in additions to their squads and looking markedly better than they started the month, the Toffees look a weaker side following the departure of Anthony Gordon to Newcastle.
If the club are to stay true to their word, they must back Dyche and give him the players he wants to sign. At least two attacking players are needed to bolster the paper-thin reserves on Merseyside, while a creative midfielder in the ilk of Gallagher would be a bonus.
The issue, as highlighted by the Chelsea 22-year-old, is that Goodison Park isn’t the most lucrative destination right now following the tumultuous season to date.
Farhad Moshiri might need to dig deep into his pockets on deadline day to come up with the signings to fire Everton away from trouble, otherwise, the club could be hit with rejection after rejection.
