Southampton agree club-record Kamaldeen Sulemana signing as Everton snubbed yet again
Southampton have beaten Everton in the race to agree a club-record deal for Ghana winger Kamaldeen Sulemana, according to Ed Aarons.
The Guardian journalist has reported on Twitter (31 January) that the Ghana winger will cost an initial €25m (£22m) plus a potential €5m (£4.4m) in future bonuses.
The news will come as a huge blow to the Toffees who have missed out on several players including the likes of Arnaut Danjuma and Connor Gallagher.
“Southampton have agreed to pay a club record fee to sign Kamaldeen Sulemana from Rennes. The Ghana winger will cost an initial €25m plus a potential €5m in future bonuses having spent 18 months in Ligue 1. Everton and RB Leipzig had also been linked,” tweeted Aarons.
Time running out
This is genuinely scary for the Toffees, and fans have every right to feel worried about the situation.
If they fail to sign a player before the 11 pm deadline, the club will have an uphill task to save them from getting relegated.
On top of that, they have lost Anthony Gordon, who joined Newcastle.
This is what is called a lack of proper planning and vision. The club should have anticipated the danger and made their moves early.

With time running out, the Toffees could be forced to make panic buys.
This is absolutely ridiculous, and it shows why the club is in a mess, both on and off the pitch.
Had Sean Dyche been appointed some 8-10 days before the end of the window, he would have got time to bring in players he wants and make necessary changes.
At the moment, the Toffees are running out of options, while the money is burning a hole in their pocket.
