Everton transfer news as club made last-gasp approach to sign Ismaila Sarr

Everton made a last-gasp loan-to-buy approach for Watford winger Ismailia Sarr in the dying hours of the transfer window, according to The Athletic.

The report claims that Everton wanted to pay Watford £2m to take Sarr on loan for the rest of the campaign, something the Hornets rejected.

The deal would have included an obligation to purchase Sarr for £30m in the event of the Toffees avoiding relegation alongside £4m in appearance bonuses.

“Watford have rejected a late bid from Everton to sign Ismaila Sarr ahead of Tuesday’s January transfer deadline,” as quoted by The Athletic. (1 February)

“Everton, who sit 19th in the Premier League, wanted to pay £2million to sign Sarr on loan for the rest of the season.

“The deal would have included an obligation to purchase Sarr for £30m in the event of Everton avoiding the drop, as well as a £4m appearance bonus.

“But Watford, who have remained adamant Sarr would not leave the club this January, rejected the late offer.”

Boring.

With an Anthony Gordon transfer bringing in around £40m, it was thought that the Toffees would now have sufficient funds to get signings over the dotted line.

Nevertheless, as always, with the Blues, nothing has gone to plan and the extreme neglect and poor planning of the team’s hierarchy have reared their ugly heads yet again.

There is no point in bringing in new managers if you are not going to back them or at least have some form of ideas of the players you want to sign.

Missing out on Arnaut Danjuma should have been a wake-up call to get some business done and now the Toffees risk getting embroiled in a grim relegation scrap.

Maybe relegation is what’s needed to get this club back on track because right now, it’s clearly being led down a dreary, bleak path of false promises.

There are simply no excuses as to why signings couldn’t be made this month and when the team needed help from those above, they were let down yet again.

This tale and tune is getting boring now.
