Alan Stubbs wants director of football to explain Everton ‘disastrous’ transfer window
Sean Dyche will take his first press conference as an Everton manager on Thursday (2 February), and Alan Stubbs wants to see the director of football, Kevin Thelwell, to join him as well.
The former Toffees player has suggested that Dyche should be allowed to speak on the footballing side and the game ahead, while Thelwell is answerable to the fans why the club endured a “disastrous” transfer window.
Everton were the only club in the Premier League that failed to sign a single player last month.
“Can we see our DOF alongside Sean Dyche (SD) at the press conf today to explain to the fans the failings behind our disastrous window. Let SD do the 1st part focusing on the game, leave and let DOF explain the rest. It shouldn’t be SD explaining for others!! We are behind you SD,” wrote Stubbs.
Absolutely
This has been a disastrous transfer window for the Toffees, and Kevin Thelwell should be answerable to the fans.
There was a lack of planning and the club failed to sign a proper replacement for Anthony Gordon.
Thelwell must answer why the club allowed Gordon to leave without a proper replacement in place.
The club are already sitting 19th in the league table, and all other relegation-threatened clubs have strengthened over the last month.
Why did Everton fail to land a single player?

Dyche is not responsible for any of these. Why the club took the decision to sack Frank Lampard so late in the window?
Dyche was left with no time at all to sign players of his choice, even though they had money to spend.
Everton chased unrealistic targets in the end, and it suggests that the DoF is completely inefficient in his role.
With a weakened squad, Dyche is now expected to do the massive task of taking the club to the Premier League safety.
The Toffees could sign one or two free agents now, but that doesn’t solve the problem.
