Andre Ayew representatives look to negate work permit issues, Everton ‘actively’ look to seal deal
Andre Ayew’s representatives are “hopeful” his international career will negate any work permit issues as Everton explore a deal for the free agent, according to talkSPORT.
The Guardian’s Fabrizio Romano revealed (via Twitter, 1 February) Ayew has travelled to the UK to hold talks with a number of clubs after he terminated his contract with Qatari side, Al-Sadd.
TalkSPORT now claim (2 February) the Toffees are “actively” exploring a deal for the former Swansea striker, with Ayew’s representatives hopeful of work permit issues being avoided.
Ease the blow
A deal for Ayew is the best Everton can do. The free agent market is hardly bustling at the moment and it seems unlikely they will find a better option at present. The 33-year-old has Premier League experience and could well make an immediate impact.
However, this is a scenario the Toffees shouldn’t have got themselves into. The lack of planning during the January window was staggeringly bad. Frank Lampard should’ve been sacked earlier and Sean Dyche appointed sooner to allow the former Burnley boss enough time to turn things around.

Luckily for the board, Dyche isn’t a manager who needs immense backing to get results. He knows how to get the best out of a group of players and there’s a strong possibility he could steer the Toffees to safety. If the 51-year-old can save the club from relegation, then a complete refresh is required in the summer from the top down.
Farhad Moshiri will certainly have a better chance of selling the club if it resides in the Premier League.
