Sean Dyche forced to bring car to stop outside Finch Farm after what Everton fans did on deadline day
Sean Dyche was forced to stop his car and talk to a group of Everton fans as he was leaving Finch Farm on deadline day, according to The Daily Mail’s Dominic King.
The Toffees endured a dismal final day of the transfer window after the board failed to land any attacking additions, meaning Everton were the only club not to sign a player.
King has since revealed Dyche had “no option but to stop” and talk to a group of fans who had gathered outside the Toffees’ training base.

“It was 9.39pm on Tuesday when Sean Dyche‘s jeep rolled out of Finch Farm onto Finch Lane. It was cold, and the wind was whipping off the Mersey estuary but still, there was a band of hardy fans waiting for him,” wrote the Daily Mail journalist (1 February).
“Everton’s new manager had no option but to stop, given the way the group had circled but was happy to spend a couple of minutes. He scribbled a few autographs, posed for selfies and was sent on his way with cries of ‘good luck’. He will need it.”
Get behind him
The problems at the club are there for all to see and deadline day was clearly a shambles from start to finish, in fact, the whole transfer window was. Everton should’ve made a decision on Frank Lampard’s future at the start of the month and then been active throughout the whole window, not just the remaining hours.
Furthermore, Anthony Gordon’s departure has seen the club recoup a large transfer fee, which hasn’t been invested back into the squad. Sadly, nothing can be done now. The window is shut and Dyche will have to make do with what he’s got. The Merseyside club appeared to have problems trying to convince players to come through the door at Goodison Park.

Conor Gallagher reportedly (Sky Sports News, 3:43pm, 30 January) turned down the advances of the Merseyside club after the Toffees had allegedly lodged a big-money bid for the Chelsea midfielder.
Now the board and the players will, once again, have to turn to the magnificent Goodison Park support to drag them away from the bottom three.
