Anthony Gordon messages Amadou Onana on Instagram after Everton win v Arsenal
Anthony Gordon has sent a three-word message to Everton midfielder Amadou Onana after the Toffees’ impressive 1-0 win over league-leaders Arsenal.
The Belgium international was a standout performer as Sean Dyche got his Everton tenure off to the perfect start.
Onana posted on Instagram (4 February) after the match and Gordon was quick to send his congratulations to the 21-year-old midfielder.

“Top big fella,” wrote the Newcastle United winger.
Move on
When Gordon does return to Goodison Park with Newcastle, it would be a shame if he was given a hard time by the fans. He clearly still cares about the club and was potentially advised poorly when trying to secure his move to the North East. He’s an Evertonian and had to move on for the sake of his career.
Onana’s performance is what we should be focusing on. The Belgium international has proven himself to be a shining light in the Toffees’ poor season to date. After his performance against Mikel Arteta’s side, it’s easy to see why the 21-year-old was linked with a move away in the January window.

The Telegraph claimed (27 January) that Chelsea were very keen on the midfielder, however, thankfully a move didn’t materialise. It’s good the Toffees rejected the approaches of the Premier League big spenders. Onana could well be worth double what Everton paid for him in the coming years.
It’s a style of recruitment which has to become the norm at Goodison Park. Younger players who can be developed and sold on for profit is becoming a modern-day method adopted by many, and Everton should certainly be looking to add one or two more assets in the summer.
