Mike Parry responds to Piers Morgan amid Everton v Arsenal Twitter spat
Mike Parry has suggested Arsenal and Everton will only finish six places apart after the Toffees sealed a 1-0 win over the Premier League leaders.
James Tarkowski’s second-half header sealed an unlikely victory for Sean Dyche’s side in what was a massively improved performance.
Piers Morgan was less than pleased with the results and suggested (via Twitter, 4 February) that Everton would still get relegated. Parry, who is a Blues shareholder, has since reacted to the tweet and claimed the Toffees are going to rapidly climb the table.
“Sorry old Pal. You ain’t going to win the Premier League and we ain’t going to get relegated,” wrote Parry (Twitter, 4 February).
“I reckon we’ll finish six places apart.”
Probably right
Parry is probably right when it comes to Everton staying up and Arsenal bottling the Premier League title. The Gunners have been on a sensational run of form, but Manchester City are breathing down their necks and could well hunt them down in the coming weeks.
From an Everton perspective that was one of the most complete performances of the season and perhaps an indication that Frank Lampard was a larger part of the problem. The players looked reinvigorated and more engaged compared to the lifeless displays against West Ham United and Brighton. It was a vital win but the Toffees do still find themselves in the bottom three.

The Merseyside Derby is now looking like a winnable game. Who would have thought that just over a week ago? Dyche will be heading to Anfield knowing the pressure is now somewhat off after picking up a win against Arsenal. Jurgen Klopp’s men are struggling at the moment and are there for the taking if the same level of application is applied.
