Chris Sutton predicts result of Everton v Liverpool Merseyside derby clash

Chris Sutton believes that Everton have a chance of winning the Merseyside derby clash against Liverpool in the Premier League on 13 February.

The Reds are winless in 2023 in the Premier League, having suffered comprehensive defeats to Brentford, Brighton and Wolves.

Everton, haven’t been in the best of form themselves but will be riding high on the new manager bounce under Sean Dyche, especially after beating Arsenal.

Everton

Speaking on BBC Radio 5 Live’s Monday Night Club, Sutton said, “I actually think that they [Everton] have a chance of winning the derby, I really do, because on the other half of the city Liverpool are in free fall.”

There for the taking

This Liverpool side is clearly not as threatening as it was a few years ago and it seems like Klopp’s cycle is coming to an end.

Their big money signing Darwin Nunez has struggled a great deal this season and none of their players have quite been up to the level we’ve seen in the past.

It can be argued that only Alisson is playing like he did when the Reds won the league and that’s indicative of all not being well at Anfield.

Dyche is now in charge and the Arsenal game showed that the players have responded well to his tactics.

We will be surprised if he makes any changes as that side is good enough to give Liverpool a run for their money.

It will be fantastic to see a repeat performance against their arch rivals and we will not be surprised if they come away from this with at least a point.
