Everton: Jamie Carragher delivers off-the-scale verdict on Blues survival chances

Jamie Carragher believes that the “off the scale” statistics Sean Dyche provides his sides with will be the only thing that keeps Everton in the Premier League.

Dyche got off to a terrific start as Blues boss, beating top-of-the-table Arsenal in front of a raucous Goodison Park crowd on 4 February.

Carragher confessed that Dyche is the ideal man to take on the job at Everton for the here and now and the traits he brings with him to Goodison will resonate with fans of the club.

“I do feel Sean Dyche is an Everton manager right now,” said Carragher speaking on Sky Sports’ The Overlap debate YouTube channel. (8 February)

“He has those traits that the Everton support can sort of feel is all about commitment, running stats are off the scale, that’s the only way I think you’re going to stay in the league.”

Confidence building.

The confidence is slowly but surely building at Goodison Park and the new manager bounce has gotten off to an absolute flyer.

Another swashbuckling result at Anfield would announce Dyche’s arrival, which may prove that he is here to stay longer than first expected.

It’s crazy the difference a week can make in the beautiful game; whilst things are far from perfect at Everton, at least there is some renewed hope and optimism.

Points and a good run of results are what’s needed now from the Toffees and solid performances alongside this would only be a bonus for fans.

Fighting for the Blue shirt is all Evertonians ask for and that’s precisely what they received in the game against the Gunners, this needs to be seen on the regular now.

No signings in January and little news of free agent arrivals suggest that Dyche will have to make do with what he has got, hopefully, this is enough to stay in the Premier League.
