Everton transfer news as Jorge Mendes now desperate over Isco
The door for Everton to sign Isco on a free transfer this February is firmly open as agent Jorge Mendes continues to look for potential suitors, according to Spanish publication Estadio Deportivo.
Tutto Juve revealed [4 February] that the free agent is keen on moving to Goodison Park this month after his contract was terminated with Sevilla.
The Estadio Deportivo report [Friday 10 February] now states that Mendes is “desperate” and “very nervous” about the predicament of Isco after failing to secure a move for his player in the winter window.

As such, the door was opened for Everton to swoop and use their “free chips” to sign the former Real Madrid player in the first days of February.
With the Turkish transfer window now also closed alongside all other major European leagues, the only alternatives away from a free transfer for Isco would be a move to either China or the United States.

James Rodriguez 2.0
Although many Everton fans may be gushing over the potential impact, Isco could have at Goodison Park – when you look at it in finer detail, it just doesn’t seem like the right fit.
If Dyche were to paint the type of player he wanted to sign in the winter window, it probably would have been the complete opposite of Isco. The English manager enjoys leading players who are hardworking, run their socks off, and stick to the job he has given them.
When looking at his old Burnley attack, the likes of Ashley Barnes, Dwight McNeil, and Aaron Lennon all fit this mould to perfection, but unfortunately, Isco doesn’t.
Although the Toffees experienced a dreadful transfer window last month, there is no point in bringing in players for the sake of it. They must be the right fit.
The potential acquisition seems like a typical Everton signing from the past five years and, in particular, draws parallels to James Rodriguez. The club must be careful not to slip into this type of transfer once more.
