Everton: Sean Dyche to invite former England rugby coach Eddie Jones to Finch Farm

Sean Dyche is set to invite former England rugby coach Eddie Jones to Finch Farm as he seeks to improve the club’s culture and fortunes, as relayed by the Daily Mail.

The report claims that Dyche has already invited Everton great Peter Reid and Graeme Sharp to watch training and speak to his squad ahead of the Merseyside derby.

The Daily Mail reports that Dyche is determined to embrace the club’s history and will extend the offer to other club stalwarts like Joe Royle and Brian Kidd in the future.

“Sean Dyche will invite Eddie Jones to spend a day at Everton’s training ground as he seeks to improve the culture and revive the club’s fortunes,” as quoted by the Daily Mail. (10 February)

“Ahead of Monday’s Merseyside Derby, Dyche welcomed in Everton great Peter Reid to Finch Farm and the dual league champion joined his old team-mate Graeme Sharp, who is now an ambassador, to watch training and speak to the current squad.

“Dyche is determined to embrace Everton’s history and he will extend the offer to other club stalwarts such as Joe Royle and Brian Kidd in the future; just as intriguingly, though, he wants Jones, the former England rugby union coach, to come in and cast his eye over things.

“The pair have a relationship that was formed at a Leaders in Sport conference. Dyche, who has had messages from NBA and NFL coaches since starting work 12 days ago, is seeking to find ‘golden nuggets’ as he looks to steer Everton away from relegation.”

Class.

Stuff like this from the new Everton boss goes a long way and it’s class to see Dyche already implementing his ideas upon this Toffees squad.

Having old great players and fascinating coaches in and around Finch Farm will only improve the mood and knowledge of this current crop of players.

It should also help the team understand what it means to be an Evertonian, something that has been forgotten in recent seasons.

Hopefully, more acts like this continue under Dyche and bring about some more positive results at Goodison Park, he couldn’t have got off to a better start.

Next up is the Merseyside derby, a game in which the Blues will be quietly confident heading into after Liverpool’s recent woeful form.

It’s an opportunity for Everton and Dyche to really get the ball rolling in this relegation dogfight and it’s a game the Englishman will be wanting to get maximum points out of.
