Rafa Benitez clueless as quotes emerge ahead of Everton v Liverpool in Premier League
Rafael Benitez has opened up ahead of the Merseyside derby on 13 February claiming that he isn’t more in favour of Liverpool or Everton in the fixture.
In quotes shared by the Liverpool Echo (13 February), Benitez claims to still have good friends among Everton fans in a bizarre statement.
This is something fans of the Blues would beg to differ with and the Spaniard by no means left Goodison Park with much if any admiration from Evertonians.

“I can’t say I’m more Liverpool or Everton today,” said Benitez as shared by the Liverpool Echo. (13 February).
“Logically, in six years there were a lot of highs at Liverpool, but I still have good friends amongst the Everton fans.”
So it seems Benitez is still as clueless as when he left Goodison Park and the former Liverpool boss must be living in a dreamland if he thinks he has mates among Everton fans.

Laughable.
Despite Benitez’s comments, fans of the Toffees know exactly what team the Spaniard will be cheering on in the Merseyside derby and it isn’t Everton.
Benitez’s appointment at Goodison was met with tremendous controversy from the get-go and the mood never really changed surrounding this.
Farhad Moshiri may have been the only man in and around the club who actually saw Benitez as a success despite the manager’s woeful record.
Let’s face it, things were never going to work out for Benitez on the Blue half of Merseyside after his history and connection with Liverpool.
And it’s still arguably one of the most out-of-touch managerial appointments the club has ever had, no one wanted it to happen and it was painful to see it play out.
It’s as if Evertonians already knew what the outcome of Benitez’s reign would be before it even happened and hopefully, nothing like that ever happens again.
