Everton can fill Richarlison void by making move for Union Berlin forward Sheraldo Becker

Everton held an interest in signing in-form Union Berlin forward Sheraldo Becker during the January transfer window, according to Sky Sports Germany reporter Christian Falk.

And Becker might just be the man to fill the £60million void Richarlison left at Goodison Park when he joined Tottenham in the summer.

Falk highlighted that Becker’s contract runs at Union until 2025, however, he admitted that he could “imagine” the player moving to the Premier League in the summer.

“Both West Ham and Everton are interested in Sheraldo Becker. We’ve just had it confirmed that Union received a concrete offer on Monday, though it’s not immediately clear which of the two submitted it,” Falk exclusively informed CaughtOffside. (6 February)

“Union, however, now have a chance to potentially secure Champions League football next year and they’re still in the cup, so that’s why they were reluctant to sell Sheraldo.

“But in the summer they know they could lose him. He’s got a contract that runs until 2025. I could imagine seeing him switch to the Premier League in the summer.”

Everton

Shrewd switch.

Should the Suriname international keep up his stellar form into the latter stages of the Bundesliga season then he should be considered as a shoo-in to fill the Richarlison void at Goodison Park.

It’s a transfer that should have really happened this summer, but with Sean Dyche now at the helm, Becker is the ideal forward to spearhead the Englishman’s future campaigns.

The 28-year-old forward is a product of the illustrious Ajax academy and it’s this pedigree that would put him in good stead for a Premier League birth.

Eight goals and seven assists for the high-flying Union in the Bundesliga so far this season prove that Becker is more than ready to make a big-money move.

And it’s his versatility to score and create goals that would be perfect for Everton and Dyche, something that has been sorely missed since the departure of Richarlison.

If Becker is still available in the summer and a new Union contract isn’t signed, then the Blues would be foolish not to take a chance on the promising forward, he could prove to be the steal of the window.
