Everton shareholder left fuming at incident from Liverpool clash

Everton shareholder Mike Parry was fuming at the referee for handing Liverpool a free kick close to the penalty area in the first half.

The Toffees were visiting Anfield on Monday, 13 February, hoping to continue the momentum they gained after beating Arsenal but failed to do so, losing 2-0 against their arch rivals.

Seamus Coleman who was dealing with Darwin Nunez, tracked him all the way to the centre of the pitch and attempted to win the ball off the Uruguayan, but the referee thought that he failed in doing so and gave a free kick.

Via Twitter, Parry shared the image and wrote, “That was what you call a tackle, you know, one footballer tries to rightly dispossess another. Utterly ridiculous that a foul was given. Could have cost Everton.”

Fair enough

That was a call that could’ve gone either way and we think that Coleman did well enough to win the ball and perhaps even got something on it.

The referee saw it in real time and gave a free kick and given the players around the ball, it was hard to call it.

However, had it gone in, there would’ve been plenty fuming as one does not want that to be a reason for a goal being scored.

Everton

Sean Dyche would also not have been happy and would’ve made it heard during his interviews and press conference post game.

The Toffees need to go on a good run now and get as far away as possible from the relegation zone as it’ll soon be the business end of the season.

Everton made the choice to appoint Dyche and he has been in these kinds of situations in the past and we’re hoping he gets them out of it again.
