Everton transfer news as Fabrizio Romano shares untouchable Olivier Giroud links
Fabrizio Romano has shared that Everton asked Olivier Giroud for a January transfer to Merseyside, however, AC Milan viewed the forward as “untouchable”.
Everton failed to make any new signings in January, something which caused outrage from fans and protests were seen outside Goodison Park on deadline day.
Now transfer guru Romano is reporting that despite interest from the Blues in January, Giroud’s agents will now be meeting with Milan representatives to sign a new and improved San Siro contract.
“AC Milan will meet Olivier Giroud agents again in the next days/weeks in order to reach an agreement on new contract,” said Romano on Twitter. (13 February, 8:33 AM)
“Giroud was not close to join Everton in January – Everton asked for him but AC Milan always considered French striker untouchable.”

Shame.
It’s a shame Everton couldn’t pull this one off, Giroud is one of the most underrated strikers in world football and his experience would have been priceless at Goodison.
Nevertheless, it’s nice to know that the Blues were at least attempting to sign someone of Giroud’s calibre and hopefully, the summer transfer window will be more prosperous.
Let’s face it, it couldn’t be much worse than January and it’s hard to imagine a transfer window ever being as poor as that was for Everton moving forward.
An overhaul and new signings are definitely needed in the summer months and it will be interesting to see how Dyche chops and changes this team, should he keep the Blues in the Premier League.
All signs are pointing towards him doing just that at the moment and the Merseyside derby against Liverpool on 13 February will be another grinding test of that theory.
The Blues need points and fast and they wouldn’t be much sweeter than an away trip at Anfield.
