Journalist shares update on Michael Keane, Yerry Mina and Abdoulaye Doucoure Everton futures

Everton defender Yerry Mina could possibly have a future at Goodison Park despite his lack of appearances this season.

According to former Eurosport journalist Dean Jones, along with Keane, Yerry Mina and Abdoulaye Doucoure could also stay put beyond the end of the season.

Keane has been a fringe player for the Toffees this term, making just one Premier League appearance.

Speaking to Give Me Sport, Jones said, “Yeah, I think there’s a strong possibility [the trio stay beyond the summer], I think that the traits that those guys have got are that they’re very dedicated, very hard-working and they can do the basics very well and that’s really what you need.”

Not ideal

The three of them cannot be given a whole season to prove their worth to Sean Dyche and he’s got to make their decisions this season.

Keane, a defender who has been labelled as “sloppy” by Jim Beglin, has done little since those comments to prove why he deserves to be at the club.

Apart from fulfilling the homegrown quota, there’s little else he’s doing at the club and he is not the man to address their woes.

The same can also be said about Mina, whose injury record has been shambolic and that just proves that he’s unreliable.

Doucoure has proved himself in Dyche’s first game in charge but he’s got to do it consistently over the next few weeks if he wants to nail down his spot in the eleven.

The Everton v Liverpool clash will be a good opportunity for him to prove that he can deliver against their arch rivals and there’s every chance for him to take advantage of the lack of form in the Reds side.
