Everton: Journalist shares conspiracy theories verdict on Dominic Calvert-Lewin

Daily Star journalist Paul Brown has hit back over the “nonsense” conspiracy theories that have surrounded Everton forward Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

Sean Dyche revealed today (16 February) that Calvert-Lewin will miss the Premier League crunch match against Leeds United this weekend.

Brown confessed that pushing the striker to come back from injury will only cause bigger problems for Everton and Dyche is right to rest him until he’s fully fit.

“Heard so many conspiracy theories about Calvert-Lewin. He doesn’t care. He’s not trying. He’s got a move lined up. He’s lazy,” said Brown on Twitter. (16 February, 4:13 PM)

“Nonsense. His body is letting him down. Pushing him when he could break down as a result is foolish, and Everton won’t do it on Dyche’s watch.”

Everton

Honeymoon over.

Three points from two Premier League juggernauts will be seen as a win for most Evertonians, especially considering the form the club were in.

But Dyche’s honeymoon at Goodison Park is coming to an end and it’s his next couple of Premier League fixtures that will be the true test of his resolve.

Leeds United come first on 18 February in a relegation six-pointer, both sides desperately need to win in this one and it will likely be a scrappy affair.

Aston Villa will then be welcomed to Goodison Park in back-to-back Premier League home games, something the Blues must take advantage of before a tricky trip to the Emirates Stadium on 1 March.

As ever, it seems Everton will be short of striking options in these upcoming fixtures, an area that needed to be improved in January and ultimately wasn’t.

The Toffees hierarchy will only have themselves to blame if this leads the club to Premier League relegation and Dyche will be praying that Calvert-Lewin can come back firing.

Nevertheless, Blues have heard this injury story far too many times before.
