Alan Myers reacts to ‘Disappointing’ Everton announcement as Dave Harrison joins Manchester United

Alan Myers has admitted he is disappointed that Everton director of football operations is leaving the club to join Manchester United.

The Toffees announced on social media on Friday (17 February) that Harrison will be leaving the club to take up the same role with Manchester United, ending a 27-year association with the Goodison Park club.

And reacting to the news on his personal Twitter account (17 February), Sky Sports journalist Myers believes that Everton’s loss is Manchester United’s gain.

“Disappointing news that Dave Harrison is leaving Everton, a top professional, extremely loyal to the club, and a great friend! Manchester United’s gain!” he wrote.

Blow

We want change in the upstairs of the club, but we want the good guys to stay and it seems very much as though Harrison was one of those.

To go on to Manchester United is obviously a huge opportunity for him and we wish him luck, but the more good guys that leave the club means the more control those awful people have too.

Farhad Moshiri, Denis Barrett-Baxendale and Bill Kenwright need to be gone as soon as possible, and the hope is that someone with far better intentions can come in and get the club pushing in the right direction once again.

The priority now has to be surviving the relegation battle regardless of who is in charge of the club, but the ultimate goal needs to be getting new owners and board members in to get us in top shape again.

This isn’t the Everton we all love and know right now, and until they’re gone it’s unlikely to get there again because the relationship is broken and irreparable as far as most fans are concerned.
