Everton: Stan Collymore drops worrying verdict on Dominic Calvert-Lewin
Stan Collymore fears for Dominic Calvert-Lewin admitting the forward’s injuries have become a “major problem” for Sean Dyche and Everton.
Calvert-Lewin was yet again ruled out of the Blues Premier League clash this weekend, something that has become an all too usual bit of news to the Blues.
Speaking in his column for Caught Offside, Collymore confessed that these are “worrying times” for Calvert-Lewin and Everton as the Toffees can’t afford to wait for him to be fully fit.

“These are worrying times for Dominic Calvert-Lewin,” said Collymore in his column for Caught Offside. (17 February)
“There’s no denying it – Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s injuries are becoming a major problem.
“He’s out again after suffering another setback – this time a hamstring injury, and I fear for him because Everton and Sean Dyche can’t afford to wait on their main striker to be fit. The position they’re in now means they need someone to be fit, available and performing consistently. If he’s damaged his hamstring, there isn’t much he can do about that, but looking at his injury history, he suffers from a lot of different problems so the one thing I would say to him is ‘how many of these knocks are keeping you out and how many could you play through if you had to?’
“Sometimes you’ve got to put yourself out there and be super resilient. It appears Calvert-Lewin is a player that has to be 100 per cent feeling it in order to play, that’s not ideal because sometimes, as a pro, you’ve just got to get on with it, even if you’re only 80 or 90 per cent.”

Unfortunate state of affairs.
There’s no escaping the fact that Calvert-Lewin won’t be reaching the heights he did under Carlo Ancelotti anytime soon with Dyche.
Injuries have unfortunately plagued the Englishman’s time at Goodison and by no fault of his own, he has become far too unreliable for the Blues.
This was an area that fans knew the club needed to invest in during summer and January and the failure to do so has left the Toffees relying on Calvert-Lewin.
Something which is unfair to the forward, he needs sufficient time to recover and him constantly being brought back early from injuries evidently isn’t helping.
Calvert-Lewin would arguably be a decent option to have alongside another top forward but he isn’t up to holding the weight of the Blues’ full forward responsibilities.
Unfortunately, Dyche has been backhanded by the Everton hierarchy in this one and the Englishman will just have to pray he can get Calvert-Lewin back sooner, rather than later.
