1878s announce plan for change at Everton on match days after fan complaints

Everton fan group The 1878s have announced they are to ask the club to stop showing goal updates from other games at Goodison Park.

The Toffees claimed a vital 1-0 win over Leeds on Saturday (18 February) to move out of the relegation zone, in a tight game that was settled by a freak Seamus Coleman goal in the second half.

But after the game the group announced on their personal Twitter account (19 February) that fans of the club have approached them about score updates from other games flashing up at Goodison and affecting the atmosphere, and they’ll be asking the club to stop doing it.

“We will also be raising with the Club, the scores fro other games coming onto the big screen during the game,” they said.

“This has a negative effect on the atmosphere and also the team.

“Fans have also complained to us about this today.

“We asked for it to stop last season, which it did.”

Every little helps

It may seem like a really small and silly thing to some, but in the situation that we’re in every little helps.

The fans need to be as united as possible when in the ground and battling for those three points on the pitch, and that means we all need to be on the same page.

When half the ground is looking at the results of others to see where it keeps us in the battle against the drop, then half the battle is lost.

We need everyone engaged and giving Everton their full support and attention to push them over the line, especially now that survival is in our own hands following the win over Leeds.

Every little advantage and bit of help that we can get we should be using, and it’s great to see someone with their intentions firmly in the eye of the fans and what they want rather than just lining their pockets and doing their own thing.
