Alan Shearer names Everton ace Seamus Coleman in Premier League team of the week after goal v Leeds United
Alan Shearer has named Everton skipper Seamus Coleman in his Premier League team of the week after his winning goal against Leeds.
The Toffees climbed out of the relegation zone after Coleman’s freak strike gave Sean Dyche all three points for the second time in three games, and gave the fans hope that survival is a possiblity.
And Coleman’s performance was enough to earn praise from the Premier League’s all-time top goalscorer Shearer, who named him in the team of the week for the official Premier League website.
Coleman slotted in at right wing-back in Shearer’s team, alongside Fulham’s Issa Diop, Bournemouth’s Jack Stephens, Tottenham’s Ben Davies and Southampton’s Romain Perraud.
Bruno Fernandes, Jorginho, Romeo Lavia and James Ward-Prowse made up the midfield, while Marcus Rashford got the nod up front.
Hard work
Coleman is the perfect Dyche player, and his performances in the games under his management have shown why.
He is constantly running, always barking orders at his teammates, always ensuring that standards don’t slip too low.

But on top of that he is performing, with strong defensive displays for the most part and now he’s even chipping in with match-winning goals in must-win games against fellow relegation strugglers.
Considering he lost his place in the side earlier this season to Nathan Patterson, it’s great to see that he still has the club at heart and wants the best for the team despite his own personal struggles.
He deserves the praise he’s getting for the weekend win, but now the most important thing is to carry that performance over into next weekend against Aston Villa where another win is vital to continue our push up the Premier League table, otherwise this result could be all for nothing.
