Everton transfer news as Duvan Zapata race set to reignite in summer

Everton are one to watch in the summer for Serie A forward Duvan Zapata when the transfer window reopens, according to Tutto Atalanta.

The report highlights how Zapata’s Atalanta contract comes to an end in 2024 and the forward is no longer indispensable at the club.

Because of this, Zapata would have an affordable price tag, something which may perk the ears of the Toffees even more as well as other Italian clubs.

“Toro tested the waters for Duvan Zapata. The Colombian’s contract also expires in 2024, for Gasperini it is no longer indispensable and the price tag is affordable,” as quoted by Tutto Atalanta. (19 February)

“But watch out for competition from Everton.”

Everton

Dangerous.

The Colombian forward is a dangerous player and has been with Atalanta for five seasons now including a loan spell where he scored 80 goals in 174 appearances.

At 31 years old he may be slightly past the age Everton are looking to recruit but his glossy resume and affordable price is food for thought for the Blues hierarchy.

The Toffees desperately need to invest in some new and improved forward options and the club can ill afford to go through another transfer window without signing any.

Sean Dyche is doing the best he can with the weapons at his disposal but Premier League games continue to highlight that these options simply aren’t good enough.

Operating on a tight budget means making any deals for younger and upcoming talents difficult and potentially opens the door for a transfer for someone like Zapata.

Could Zapata be the man to cure the Blues’ goalscoring woes? Potentially, but whether a move escalates any further than a rumour remains to be seen.
