Complications emerge in Everton quest to seal transfer of Atalanta striker Duvan Zapata
Everton are reportedly keen on signing Atalanta striker Duvan Zapata in the summer but their pursuit is contingent on their Premier League status.
According to AS on 20 February, the Toffees’ pursuit to sign the Colombian is complicated due to the club’s current position in the Premier League.
They have already enquired about signing the 31-year-old in the January window are still keen on a summer transfer amid a behind-the-scenes fallout at the Serie A club.

Focus on the field
Everton cannot let their focus stray off the field as what matters right now for them is to avoid relegation and Sean Dyche will surely not be thinking beyond that.
He would’ve ideally liked to have come in earlier in the window so he could get a couple of players that would’ve fit his philosophy.

Frank Lampard liked to play a different style of football to Dyche and it wasn’t effective so now the players are going to be required to put in harder yards off the ball.
Anyway, Zapata would be a good signing but we do not think anyone at the club is thinking beyond May and securing Premier League status for next season.
The financing for the new stadium and a potential takeover is going to be a lot harder to achieve if they’re not getting Premier League revenues from their TV and other marketing deals.
