Everton midfielder Amadou Onana has ‘ongoing knee problem’ – Injury Expert

Everton midfielder Amadou Onana has an “ongoing knee problem” that is being ‘managed’ by the club’s medical team, injury expert Ben Dinnery.

The midfielder, bought for £33m last summer, was taken off in second-half of their win over Leeds United at the weekend, which manager Sean Dyche confirmed after the match that it is a “knee issue”, but manageable.

The 21-year-old took to social media [19 February] this week to assure fans that there are “no worries” in regards to the injury picked and expert Dinnery has shared his verdict on the state of play.

Speaking to GiveMeSport [22 February], he said: “That’s a bit of a niggling sort of ongoing knee problem that’s being managed.

“Let’s not forget, he doesn’t look it, but he’s still a young lad who’s just coming into the Premier League. And he’s still adapting to the intensity of that, and his fitness is still improving.”

Need him back ASAP

Despite the club’s struggles this season, both on and off the pitch, the Belgian international has consistently proven a bright spark amidst all the doom and gloom.

The 21-year-old was superb under Frank Lampard and showed just why the Chelsea legend desperately wanted to sign him last summer in a £33m deal, and since then, Onana has proven an absolute bargain so far.

With the midfielder suffering a knee injury on Saturday, the Toffees fans will be hoping and praying it isn’t too serious as Onana has swiftly become arguably the team’s MVP in just a matter of months.

It’s unlikely he’d be fit to face Aston Villa on Saturday and that is a huge blow for the club as they look to continue their decent form under Dyche.

The former Burnley man needs his midfield lieutenant back ASAP, as much of their ambitions to avoid the drop depend on Onana’s fitness and availability for the rest of the campaign.
