Jordan Pickford could quit Everton for overseas club as ‘worst-case scenario’ mooted amid contract news
Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford would not be short of offers overseas if a “worst-case scenario” should occur in the form of relegation, after committing to a new Goodison Park contract, according to The Telegraph.
The Toffees keeper has agreed a long-awaited new deal [BBC Sport, 23 February] which is expected to be announced imminently.
Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, taking to his personal Twitter account [23 February] reported the latest developments that the new deal was “imminent”, with certain clauses expected to be involved in the deal.

And according to The Telegraph [23 February], Pickford won’t be short of offers from overseas club if the Toffees suffer relegation at the end of the campaign.
The report reveals: “Only Tottenham Hotspur have been seriously linked with the England keeper, while top four wannabes Newcastle United opted to pursue Pickford’s international rival, Nick Pope, rather than make Everton a substantial offer.
“Nevertheless, Pickford would not be short of admirers overseas if the worst-case scenario of a drop into the championship materialised, so it is admirable he is seeking no way out in such circumstances.”
Admirable decision
Considering all the unrest and uncertainty surrounding the whole club right now, coupled with their torrid position in the Premier League currently, Pickford has made an admirable decision for his long-term career.
And he could well have been forgiven for jumping ship this summer, with top clubs in the Premier League reportedly interested in his talented services.

However, the news that he has agreed to a new contract is such huge news for the club and new manager Sean Dyche.
It highlights Pickford’s confidence in the former Burnley manager not only to secure their status in the Premier League but also to take the club back to where it belongs – fighting just outside the top six in the league.
It’s true, the 28-year-old certainly won’t be short of offers from top overseas clubs if the worst-case scenario should occur, but that is the last thing on the Toffees’ minds right now. They are over joyous their star man has chosen to remain for the long-term.
