talkSPORT pundit doesn’t care if Everton captain Seamus Coleman lied about special Leeds United strike as Darren Bent claims
We’re delighted to welcome former Everton striker Kevin Campbell as our exclusive columnist. Each week the former Toffees captain will be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Goodison Park…
Kevin Campbell doesn’t care whether Everton captain Seamus Coleman told the truth about his goal against Leeds United as winning the game was all that mattered.
The Toffees captain caught Illan Meslier out with a strike from out wide on the right that went straight into the far side netting to settle the relegation six-pointer at Goodison last week (18 February), leading talkSPORT pundit Darren Bent to lightheartedly call him a liar two days later for claiming he meant to do it.
But former Everton captain Campbell, himself a talkSPORT pundit, is not bothered either way and is delighted that Coleman’s attempt in the right direction took the points.

Speaking exclusively to Goodison News about whether the skipper meant it he said: “I don’t care, if I’m honest.
“Whether he meant it or not, sometimes when you’re there you want to get it in an area, and I think he’s just gone to put it in an area.
“But hey, if the goalkeeper’s tried to read it and he gets it on target, good goal, bad positioning by the goalkeeper.
“Sometimes you need a little bit of luck, and I’m sure Seamus will say, ‘Yeah I meant it’.
“Honestly I don’t care, as long as Everton got the win that’s the most important thing.”

It was the second home game under Sean Dyche, and the second win since October in the Premier League, both by 1-0 score lines after goals from defenders.
A repeat would be welcome against Aston Villa on Saturday (25 February), and neither the manager nor the fans will care greatly where the goals come from at the moment.
But it would be a considerable boost if the attacking players could find a way to start adding to their tallies as well to increase the chances of this run continuing.
