Fabrizio Romano shares Jordan Pickford exit news from Everton as Sean Dyche changes mood at Goodison Park

Everton have never received any “serious or concrete interest” for the services of Jordan Pickford, and the goalkeeper is “really happy” at Goodison Park after signing his new contract, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Writing on his daily briefing for Caught Offside on Sunday (26 February), the Guardian journalist reported that the arrival of Sean Dyche as manager of Everton had reversed the previously glum mood on Merseyside.

Pickford, 28, signed a new long-term contract earlier this week that will keep him at Everton until 2027, with Paul Joyce sharing (23 February) that no relegation clause was attached to the deal.

Romano wrote: “There’s never been any serious or concrete interest from Manchester United or any other club for Jordan Pickford. The England international recently signed a new contract at Everton.

“Pickford is really happy at Everton and wanted to help the club by extending his contract.

“I think Sean Dyche has completely changed the mood at Everton.”

Massive coup

Considering the club’s precarious position in the Premier League table right now, Pickford’s new contract is a major endorsement of the project Dyche has started at the Merseyside club.

Supporters wouldn’t fault England’s number one for waiting until the summer before deciding on his future, but putting pen to paper this week was a fantastic piece of business to get done. The keeper is likely to be a huge cog in Dyche’s works over the next few months, and he will need to be at his very best to help the club stave off relegation to the Championship.

Pickford has history when it comes to relegation fights, pulling off man-of-the-match displays on a regular basis last year and making what was voted as the save of the season against Chelsea.

With the Toffees failing to find the back of the net in Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s injury absence, keeping them out at the other end has been made that much more important.
