Everton fan frustration ‘boils over into anger’ over Dominic Calvert-Lewin injury
Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin remains out injured, and his absence has raised frustration among supporters until it boiled over into anger, according to journalist Daniel Storey.
Writing for iNews, Storey shares that the Toffees have been “rotten” at finishing, and Sean Dyche is left with few options ahead of their “massive” clash against Nottingham Forest next weekend, with Arsenal to come first.
The club’s survival bid is going to be seriously hampered without Calvert-Lewin, but it’s deeply unfair on him as no player wants to remain out with injuries.

“Part of the problem here is the continued absence of Dominic Calvert-Lewin, a topic that seems to have raised frustration amongst supporters until it boils over into anger,” wrote Storey for INews.
“That’s deeply unfair on him. No player chooses to be injured; evidence suggests that Calvert-Lewin’s current problems partly relate to him being rushed back from previous injuries due to the emergency of Everton’s goalscoring record.
“But something’s going to have to give. Ellis Simms is a young kid with a few months of experience at Championship level. Neal Maupay has scored once from 22 shots in the league this season. Either Calvert-Lewin gets – and stays – fit or Everton’s survival bid is going to be seriously hampered. The trip to Nottingham Forest next weekend is massive.”
No solution
There is no easy solution at the moment. The club had the option to sign a new striker in the January window and they wasted it completely.
The Toffees failed to sign a single player in January and lost Anthony Gordon to Newcastle United as well. Dyche was left with no time at all to make the necessary changes. Without Calvert-Lewin, the Toffees would find it hard to survive.

Maupay was signed in the summer from Brighton by Frank Lampard, and he has proved to be a flop. He should be making the best use of the opportunities now, but it seems he has forgotten how to score.
He gets into the box, and instead of trying to engineer something on his own, he looks for options elsewhere and plays out a simple pass. That shows his lack of confidence at the moment.
Simms is another option for Dyche, but the young talent has only scored a handful of goals in the Championship and needs more time to establish himself as a proper goalscorer in the first team.
