Simon Jordan makes Everton relegation prediction after Aston Villa defeat

Simon Jordan believes that Everton will avoid getting relegated from the Premier League this season despite their recent defeat against Aston Villa.

The talkSPORT host believes that Sean Dyche will be the reason they stay up as he’s known how to grind out results and pick up crucial wins.

He has kept Burnley up in the top flight on numerous occasions despite having the lowest transfer budget of all the Premier League sides.

Jordan said on talkSPORT at 12:50 pm on 27 February, “Maupay doesn’t give them enough. But I think Dyche has the organisational skills to win games 1-0

“It doesn’t really matter at the moment (how Everton score). They have got to nick games and close games off. We keep making the case for Everton because of Sean Dyche.

“West Ham were markedly better, (Declan) Rice was markedly better. Bowen was good, Paqueta. They were all at it. Wolves, Nottingham Forest, Leicester and Crystal Palace have enough to escape the drop.

“So who is it going to be? It has to be Leeds and Everton (battling it out). My gut feeling is Leeds United.”

Spot on about Maupay

Jordan is right when he says that Neal Maupay does not give this side enough going forward and it’s a real cause for concern.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s fitness is going to be key to Everton’s staying up as Dyche relies on having a tall forward leading the line.

If he manages to change his style of play and get someone like Lewis Dobbin and Demarai Gray to thrive in that role, then it could be a masterstroke.

Everton

However, we do not see that happening and it remains to be seen how they deal with adversity as there’s still plenty left to play for until the end of the season.

Leeds will also be enjoying their new manager bounce and we do not think Nottingham, Wolves or Palace are still safe and they could be sucked right into it.

Rather than it being between just four teams, we think that eight teams still realistically have a shot at relegation and plenty is left for Everton to fight for.
