Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin out of action for ‘around 4-6 weeks’ – injury expert

Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s hamstring problem is likely to keep him out for “around 4-6 weeks” in a new blow for Everton and Sean Dyche, according to injury expert Ben Dinnery.

The England international has only played 62 minutes under Dyche since he joined the ranks at Goodison Park and missed the side’s defeats games against Liverpool, Leeds United and Aston Villa.

As quoted by the Mirror pg 48 (28 February) Dyche confirmed star striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin will miss tomorrow’s clash with leaders Arsenal at the Emirates.

And Dinnery speaking to GiveMeSport [28 February] revealed the 25-year-old is facing over a month out of action for the Toffees. He said: “We’re certainly not expecting Calvert-Lewin to be involved against Arsenal, that’s probably going to come too soon.

“I think we’re potentially looking at around 4-6 weeks or so with regards to that hamstring problem.

“It’s not just this injury in particular that the club are focusing on.”

Damaging blow

Dinnery’s update is such a damaging blow to the Toffees’ chances of survival. Dyche’s men have been struggling in front of goal this season, currently sitting in the relegation place and possessing the Premier League’s worst attack so far this season.

Calvert-Lewin has proven a huge miss for the club, with summer signing Neal Maupay severely struggling to make any real impact since his move from Brighton.

Everton

Everton’s two goalscorers under Dyche have come from two defenders in James Tarkowski and Seamus Coleman which really highlights the lack of quality and cutting edge currently in his squad.

Dwight McNeil, Demarai Gray and Alex Iwobi have a huge job on their hands firing the club up the table, but it is evidently clear the Blues are desperately lacking firepower up front, and that could well be the determining factor on whether they remain in the English top flight this season.

Once again, losing Calvert-Lewin for another 4-6 weeks in their quest for safety is a really damaging blow.
