Everton facing financial ‘Armageddon’ as Premier League relegation beckons

Journalist Alan Myers has highlighted how Everton could be facing financial “armageddon” should they be relegated from the Premier League this season.

Myers isn’t wrong in his doomsday prediction for the Blues and fans who think a Championship reset would be beneficial need to bear this in mind.

Farhad Moshiri has alluded to an Everton “existential crisis” recently and this crisis could well be the club being relegated to the English second tier.

“Armageddon,” replied Myers on Twitter to a worried Toffees fan of the result of Premier League relegation.

With the Premier League being the crown jewel in the failing British economy right now, losing being part of it and in turn, its revenues would be a bitter blow for Everton.

Everton

Treacherous.

Everton are starring down the barrel of a treacherous Premier League assault rifle and it’s hard to argue against Championship relegation being the worst possible outcome right now.

A reset? Yes, relegation would mean that the wages of players could be cut in half, something former footballer Peter Crouch highlighted in a recent podcast was the norm in modern football.

But even after parachute payments that come with relegation, this wouldn’t amount to the turnover Everton would receive by being part of the most lucrative league in the world.

Survival has to be achieved at Goodison Park this season or the future of Everton football club starts to look murkier and murkier as the days pass by.

You would hope Farhad Moshiri and the Everton board have some form of contingency plans in place, however, there is little to suggest from their past antics that this will be the case.

Relegation would mean that this already poor squad would get even worse and the financial straits that are evidently dire could become an even bigger issue.

It’s maybe healthy for fans to think that relegation is a possibility but by no means should it be considered a positive reset.
