Everton midfielder James Garner faces late fitness test ahead of Nottingham Forest Premier League clash

Everton midfielder James Garner is reportedly facing a late fitness test as he aims to be ready for the Nottingham Forest clash on Saturday, 5 March.

According to injury expert Ben Dinnery, the 21-year-old is in contention to play against the side he spent a season out on loan at in the Championship.

Since his move from Manchester United in the summer, the Merseyside-born central midfielder has faced a number of injury issues.

Hope he’s fit for good

Garner was impeccable in the Championship last season and Forest fans will certainly remember him as one of the main players in their promotion run.

He played almost every game and anchored their midfield to near perfect.

It came as a surprise to many that Erik ten Hag was willing to part ways with him in the summer, given the midfield concerns in that team.

Everton took the chance and signed him, but thus far, it’s proven to be the wrong decision, but things can change if he remains fit and fights his way into the playing eleven.

The likes of Idrissa Gueye and Abdoulaye Doucoure have been erratic this season and if Sean Dyche has options like Garner fit and available, he could look to change things in midfield.

He can also play Alex Iwobi there but will need to sort out his situation as reports are now emerging that he wants to leave Goodison Park at the end of the season.
