Everton transfer news as Alex Iwobi imminent exit rumours must be ignored
Turkish news outlet A Spor reported on 2 March that Alex Iwobi is “unhappy” at Everton and ready to make a move to Super Liga giants Fenerbahce.
The Turkish transfer window doesn’t shut until 5 March for those asking how an imminent transfer could even happen but this one seems like a nothing story to ignore.
Since when has Iwobi been unhappy at Goodison Park? This would be the first time any Evertonian has heard of any doubts the Nigerian is currently facing.

“Fenerbahce stepped in for Alex Iwobi, who plays for Everton, one of the Premier League teams,” as quoted by Aspor. (2 March)
“It was stated that the Nigerian attacker, who was unhappy in his club, wanted to leave. It was claimed that the yellow-dark-blue people were trying hard for the transfer of Iwobi and wanted to put an end to the transfer until March 5.
“It was claimed that the transfer was considered as a loan in the first place, but after Iwobi’s insistence on separation, it could be a purchase situation. It was stated that the transfer of the Nigerian star could happen at any time and that the signatures could be signed in a short time.”

Surely not.
Iwobi has been a pivotal part of Sean Dyche’s starting XI since the Englishman took over the reins from Frank Lampard and has been a standout in the Toffees squad for some time now.
The report doesn’t make clear where this sudden unhappiness has come from and how it has led Iwobi to the decision of wanting to leave Goodison straight away.
It would be extremely odd for Everton to let one of their prized assets leave in the midst of a relegation battle and this is a transfer story that just doesn’t seem to have legs.
Fair enough if Iwobi was going about his business in an Anthony Gordon kind of fashion but the maestro simply hasn’t given any evidence that he wants to leave Merseyside.
It will be interesting to see if the Turkish giants actually do attempt to make a last-ditch move for Iwobi but fans can rest assured that this transfer is an unlikely one.
With rumours of Iwobi being close to signing a new Everton contract late last year, this could all be a bit of work by his agent to rope the Blues into a more lucrative deal for his client.
