Former Liverpool defender Phil Thompson predicts result of Everton v Nottingham Forest

Former Liverpool defender Phil Thompson predicts a defeat for Everton when they face Nottingham Forest on Sunday, 5 March.

Sean Dyche’s side suffered a 4-0 defeat against Arsenal in midweek and will be looking to get back to winning ways.

Forest also lost by the same scoreline to West Ham last weekend but are currently ahead of the Toffees in the Premier League table.

The Liverpool legend told Paddy Power, “Nottingham Forest will fancy their chances in this one and, what you’ve got to understand is, their six Premier League wins this season have all been 1-0 so they can keep a clean sheet. However, they’ve taken just one point from their last three games.

“But, at home, they’re unbeaten in eight Premier League games. As they’re at the City Ground I think this will go in Nottingham Forest’s favour. I don’t think it’s going to be a great game, though.”

Forest may be on a decent run lately but they’re not immune from the threat of relegation and they’ll well aware about the fact.

In a recent Super Computer prediction, it’s Forest and Everton fighting for 17th place and this result will have huge bearing on the relegation battle.

If the Toffees win, it will give them momentum and that’s significant under a new manager going into the final three months of the season.

Every result now can be season-defining and Dyche is going to treat this game as exactly that.

Right now, it’s hard to call this one and a case can be made for either side being the favourites, but Everton need to fancy their chances of picking up three points.

A draw probably benefits Forest more and Dyche’s side have to forget the Arsenal result and go into this one with their minds clear.
