£35m Jordan Pickford exit fee agreed by all parties at Everton
Jordan Pickford’s new contract at Everton includes a “staggering” £35million release clause, according to newspaper journalist Alan Nixon.
Writing via Patreon on Sunday morning (5 March), Nixon reported that the “escape clause” was tied into the 28-year-old’s new and improved contract at Goodison Park in case the Blues are relegation from the Premier League.
However, it is understood that the fee is so high that it should put off interested clubs even if Everton do go down to the Championship.

Nixon adds that “the cost of his exit has been agreed by all parties” but if the worst-case scenario does happen at Goodison, the Toffees could be forced into agreeing a lower fee for the England number one.
Big money
If the worst does happen at Goodison Park and Everton are relegated this season, selling Pickford for £35million would be very good business for a Championship club.
However, the chances of getting that money are low.
If we go down, there’s no way that the first-choice England goalkeeper will want to spend a season in the Championship with the European Championships next year.

He’ll no doubt lose his spot in the starting line-up and, potentially, the whole squad.
Pickford will want to leave and that’ll mean clubs will come in with low-ball bids, knowing that Everton are also struggling with Financial Fair Play regulations.
It would be a financial disaster if we’re relegated, meaning selling players off could be our only hope of staying afloat.
But a decent Premier League club should really pay £35million for Pickford. He’s worth a lot more than that.
