Everton target Moussa Dembele to be free agent this summer as he decides to leave Lyon
Everton target Moussa Dembele has reportedly made his decision to leave Ligue 1 side Lyon once the season ends in the month of May.
According to Tuttomercato Web [7 March], as his contract runs out in June, he will be made available on a free transfer.
The Mirror claimed in January 2023 that he was a target at Goodison Park and that the Toffees were in talks to secure his services.

This news will surely be welcomed on Merseyside as the club are already in dire straits financially and will be looking for cost-effective deals in the summer.
Lyon director Vincent Ponsot is already regretting his potential exit as he said: “It’s not a good situation for us to know that he’ll be on a free-for-all basis at the end of the season. We spent 22 million euros on him and it is a great regret. More and more players are released at the end of the contract, obviously, it is their right.”
These certainly sound like words of a club resigned to losing one of their best players and their loss can be Everton’s gain in the summer.

Since Sean Dyche took over in the summer, he hasn’t been backed by the Toffees board with any new signings and they surely will have to get him new players once the window opens.
The 26-year-old is a proven goal scorer and is likely to adapt to Dyche’s system well and his willingness to work off the ball will make him an ideal fit for the Premier League.
Whether or not Everton can sign him ahead of other potential suitors, remains to be seen.
