Everton agreement in place to sell Jordan Pickford as Tottenham wage package update emerges
Everton have an agreement in place to sell Jordan Pickford in the summer if they’re relegated and a move to Tottenham could be on the cards, according to Alan Nixon.
The newspaper journalist reported via his Patreon account on Sunday (12 March) that despite Pickford, 29, signing a new contract at Goodison Park, Spurs still want the England number one to replace Hugo Lloris.
It is understood that Pickford’s transfer value will depend on whether Everton are relegated or not this season but if they do go down to the Championship, the ex-Sunderland goalkeeper will be valued at £35million.

Nixon adds that “the reality is that he will be sold if Everton go down” and the wages on offer at Tottenham are “pretty much the same” as what they are at Goodison.
Inevitable
Even if we stay up this season, we might be waving goodbye to Pickford in the summer.
Let’s face it, Pickford is too good to be in a Premier League relegation battle and certainly too good to be in the Championship.
England’s number one should be competing for trophies or playing in Europe every season.
While we cannot say anything about Spurs going after silverware, they’ll at least be able to offer Pickford the chance to play in the Champions League or Europa League most years.
Everton need to strive to be at that level.

Even getting into the Conference League would be a great step forward for the Toffees.
Until that happens, we cannot expect top players to stick around too long due to the issues currently plaguing Goodison Park.
Hopefully the FFP situation isn’t far from being sorted out and we can start signing players a bit more freely.
But until then, it’s usually always going to be a case of selling before buying.
Offloading Pickford for top dollar could open the door to sign a top new striker.
