Ben Foster shares Everton relegation verdict after 1-0 win over Brentford

Ben Foster believes Everton will be safe from relegation if they can continue their record of winning every other game under Sean Dyche.

The Toffees have won three of seven games since Sean Dyche took over as manager, with a 1-0 win over Brentford on Saturday their third 1-0 win since he became manager and helped them climb to 15th in the table.

And Foster, speaking on his “Football Fill-In” show on Youtube (13 March, 36:01) believes the home form could be enough to save them from relegation and thinks the 1-0 wins are “perfect” for what Dyche wants to do at Goodison Park.

“Fair play to them, that’s three wins out of seven since he took over,” he said.

“If you’re Everton right now you can quite happily work with winning one, then losing one. If you can work that, you’re absolutely cooking. That seems to be what Sean Dyche is doing.

“He’s using that home form and winning these 1-0 games for fun, but that’s what you’re going to get with Sean Dyche.

“Three 1-0’s, perfect.”

Perfect

When Dyche arrived at Goodison Park there was plenty of optimism that he could get us out of this mess because of his experience and pragmatic style of play.

The big concern was always where we’d find goals from with Dominic Calvert-Lewin always injured, Ellis Simms unproven and Neal Maupay just not good enough.

Everton

But he’s managed to find a way to score goals in four of the seven games he’s taken charge of, and with those goals we’ve got points each time – with the only draw coming against Nottingham Forest in a game we probably should have won.

If he can continue to get the defence performing well and keep goals coming from all over the pitch rather than relying on just one forward to do the job, then relegation seems to be something that is easier to envisage not happening.

It’s been a great appointment and fans are excited for the future under Dyche, but it’s not done yet and we must continue to perform at this good standard before we get carried away.
