Sean Dyche surely delighted amid Conor Coady Everton update

Conor Coady is set to miss out on Gareth Southgate’s England squad – and this news will surely be music to the ears of Sean Dyche and Everton.

The Daily Mail has reported that (16 March) the 30-year-old is set to be snubbed by the Three Lions for their European Championship qualifiers against Italy and Ukraine.

The Wolves loanee was part of England’s World Cup campaign in Qatar and has been a regular feature in Southgate’s squads due to his leadership qualities. However, the end could well be nigh on the international stage after this latest snub.

Dyche on the other hand will be absolutely delighted with this news. The former Burnley boss has made an encouraging start to life on Merseyside and will be frustrated that an extended break is imminent. However, having Coady in and around his squad during the time off could well be invaluable.

The Everton boss is known for his rigid defensive style of play and the foundations of that are built on the training ground. Clean sheets have certainly been more of a regularity since his arrival, but two weeks could benefit the Toffees further.

Coady has been on the bench for Everton’s last three matches, with James Tarkowski and Michael Keane enjoying a run in the side. Dyche has four good central defensive options at his disposal and he will rotate between now and the end of the season.

Continuity is key and if Jordan Pickford is the only player to depart on England duty, there’s a golden opportunity for this side to develop further during the time off.
