Everton must land Iliman Ndiaye as 'extraordinary' saga unfolds at Sheffield United

Everton have been linked with a move for Sheffield United striker Iliman Ndiaye – and the latest developments at Bramall Lane could open the door for a summer move.

The Daily Mail claim (17 March) the Yorkshire side are now battling to avoid falling into administration and have introduced a series of “extraordinary cost-cutting measures”.

The Sunday Mirror suggest (12 March) the Toffees are one of a number of Premier League clubs who are monitoring the 23-year-old, who has 20 goals and assists in all competitions in the 2022/23 campaign.

Considering the desperate situation which has now engulfed the Championship high-flyers there’s a chance for the Toffees to take advantage. The Blades could now be forced to cash in on their biggest assets in the summer in a move to generate funds.

This could see the likes of Ndiaye being sold and it’s something the board should seriously consider. Too often Everton have failed to take advantage and make smart transfer decisions. Looking to land a player for below their value and developing them is something the board must try and do.

Amadou Onana was an expensive addition, but the Belgium under-21 international’s value has only increased since his move to Goodison Park.

Ndiaye is a player who looks destined to be playing in the top flight and considering Everton’s issues when it comes to putting the ball in the net – he could well make an impact.

Evertonians should certainly keep a keen eye on the ongoings at Bramall Lane – a player exodus could be on the cards.
