Everton target Duvan Zapata’s transfer valuation drops amid lack of goals for Atalanta

Everton can reportedly sign Atalanta striker Duvan Zapata for lesser than what he was worth a few months ago amid his lack of goals in Serie A.

According to Italian media outlet Il Giorno [20 March], the Toffees are looking for a physical striker who can be a good goal-scoring option.

Zapata, 31, is one on their radar but his valuation has dropped “drastically” and he’s no longer worth the £39million that Atalanta were looking for earlier.

Not worth the hassle

The Colombia international may have bagged 105 goals in his Serie A career but he’s not the striker he once was and is not worth the pursuit.

Everton need someone in their prime who’s going to be there not just for the next year or two but for the better part of the decade.

If the 31-year-old was a lethal goal-scoring machine, then an argument could be made about bringing him in for the short term.

However, his valuation wouldn’t be declining and there would be other suitors who could offer him better wages and the chance to play in Europe.

Right now, it seems unlikely that Everton even have this summer and transfers in mind as their priority solely lies on avoiding relegation.

However, there may be things to worry about as Liverpool are keeping tabs on one of their players and they need to sort out his future before thinking of bringing someone through the door.
