Pundit slams Everton duo Idrissa Gueye and Michael Keane v Chelsea

Michael Ball was disappointed with the errors of Everton duo Idrissa Gueye and Michael Keane in the 2-2 draw against Chelsea.

The Toffees travelled to Stamford Bridge and secured a vital point courtesy of a late equaliser by Ellis Simms.

Ball has singled out the two Everton players for the concession of the first goal for Chelsea.

He told Liverpool Echo, “Still some bad habits to cut out.

“I thought both the goals we conceded at Chelsea were soft. Playing against top opposition is going to make you tired and leggy as Sean Dyche is pushing this team to work at a high level consistently and as a player you’re going to try and get that breather you need here and there.

“If you look at the first goal, Idrissa Gueye again switches off, looking like he’s thinking his player is not going to be a danger. As the passage of play moves on, Michael Keane gets a foot to it but it’s a dangly foot and if he was on his toes and been a bit sharper then he probably got a better clearance and that scenario is out of the window.”

Needs cutting out

The Everton players cannot keep making mistakes like this as it’ll cost the team points and unfortunately, the manager will be the one to be blamed.

Dyche has given Keane a chance to prove his worth and he’s done fairly well under him but he cannot keep on making silly mistakes like this.

Hopefully, some of these players make the most of the international break and come back on the other end of it with more confidence and a better understanding of the system.

It is surprising that Yerry Mina still isn’t being given a chance in the first team and maybe Dyche needs to see something more from him before he lets that happen.

It also could be down to his attitude and also the fact that he’s not being definitive about whether he wants to stay or leave the club.

Keane may not be overly reliable and that’s why it does make sense to have a Plan B in mind as Conor Coady has also not done enough to impress Dyche.
