Everton defender Seamus Coleman chief injury concern for Republic of Ireland
Everton defender Seamus Coleman is an injury doubt ahead of the Republic of Ireland v France Euro 2024 qualifier scheduled on Monday, 27 March.
The Irish Mirror on 24 March threw more light on his thigh concern and labelled the Toffees captain as the “chief injury concern” for the national side.
This news was later confirmed by Scotland head coach Stephen Kenny after the 34-year-old missed the 3-2 win over Latvia on 23 March.

He said, “Seamus just has a slight thigh strain. I’ll be clearer (this) morning on all fronts when we see how he is.”
Hope it’s nothing serious
At 34, picking up injuries is always a worry as one thing can lead to another which could have consequences further down the line.
If Coleman’s not a hundred per cent, Kenny should not even look to pick up as it’ll jeopardise his domestic season.
He will also not benefit from having an unfit player when someone younger albeit less experienced, can do the trick for him.

It remains to be seen what the medical staff in the Ireland setup decides on Coleman and whether or not they deem him fit enough to play.
Ideally, like many other Premier League clubs have done, Everton could’ve asked him to pull out of the squad due to injury.
He’s already got a relegation battle to deal with and the next fixture is against Spurs who may have a new manager in charge, meaning that it’s going to be a tougher battle with players looking to prove a point.
