Hugo Lloris competes in behind closed doors clash ahead of Everton v Tottenham

Tottenham goalkeeper Hugo Lloris played in a behind closed doors friendly this week as he continues his recovery from injury before they face Everton.

The Toffees are set to resume Premier League action against the north London club (3 April) after the international break, but it now seems that France legend Lloris could be ready to return for the game.

The World Cup winner suffered a knee injury in a win over Manchester City back in February and hasn’t played since, but according to Evening Standard journalist Dan Kilpatrick he took part in a behind-closed-doors friendly on Thursday which suggests he could be set to return at Goodison Park.

“Lloris played a friendly behind closed doors yesterday,” he wrote on his personal Twitter account (24 March).

Bad luck

It’s just typical for Everton that they’re going to be running into a Tottenham side looking to bounce back with their captain back fit again and a new manager.

Antonio Conte looks set to leave the club during the international break, and it seems as though Ryan Mason could be the man to take charge until the end of the season.

Everton
Everton manager Sean Dyche

While Everton and Sean Dyche will fancy their chances of getting a result at Goodison Park after a good period of rest and with the home crowd behind them, but Lloris being fit again definitely makes the task harder.

There is no doubting that Lloris is a far better goalkeeper than Fraser Forster, and he will have the defence more organised and will be harder to beat.

But Everton don’t have time or space for excuses, and if we can perform to our best in the game then we have the abilities to get a result and stay away from the danger zone.
