Everton: Clubs turn fire on Premier League over ‘very surprising’ charge after categorical March assurances
The Premier League are facing urgent questions from top-flight clubs over their decision to charge Everton with breaching spending rules, according to the Daily Mail.

Under Premier League rules, clubs are only allowed to lose a maximum of £105m over three years, but the Toffees recorded losses of £371.8m during this period, which brought much scrutiny.

According to The Daily Mail [25 March], many clubs are questioning the Premier League over their decision to charge Everton just nine months after insisting that they had no case to answer.
The report reveals that Premier League executives told the clubs at a shareholders’ meeting last March that there were no concerns about potential breaches at Goodison Park, and the Toffees were permitted to sign players during the transfer window as they were working with the Premier League to ensure they were compliant.
Disastrous
After ten months of silence, Everton have finally been brought into the firing line for their financial records and continued incompetence involving the club board and Farhad Moshiri.
This news over the past 24 hours is simply yet another disastrous development for a club which has been plagued with a whole raft of scrutiny and criticism over the past few months. When will it end?

Accusations surrounding financial issues have been dealt with extremely strictly recently, with Manchester City similarly referred and Chelsea put under sanctions while still owned by Roman Abramovich, while several clubs within the EFL have been docked points for financial irregularities.
It would simply come as no surprise to see the rule book thrown at Everton also to set an example.
Farhad Moshiri and Bill Kenwright have gotten away with so much for too long now. Their continued silence and lack of transparency, when faced with burning questions from fans and shareholders, is simply not good enough, will they still remain silent over these latest allegations?
